The 2010 World Cup winners have made many surprises and shocks in recent tournaments over the past decade. From becoming Euro 2012 winners to getting knocked out in the group stage in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. With Spain’s 2010’s era having some of the most vital players on their side from the most-capped player Sergio Ramos to the player that scored Spain’s World Cup winner. But now a decade later the squad looks completely different but holds special talent to soon become one of the favourites for the Qatar World Cup. Here are the reasons why Spain will win the World Cup.
Squad Re-Vamp: After Vicente del Bosque’s incredible tournament victories in both World Cup 2010 and Euro 2012, Spain was known as the best national team in the world. This would soon change after a disappointing run in the World Cup 2014 failing to get out the group stages and only getting as far as the last 16 in Euro 2016 and World Cup 2018. No managers have seemed to make Spain impressive in any international tournament until the arrival of Luis Enrique. Enrique was able to provide more youth to the squad which would set up better talent and creativity for the Spaniards with the likes of Pedri, 18, and Ferran Torres, 22. The Spanish side still currently play their same formation 4-3-3 but have more of a mix between young and experienced players.
Recent tournament Runs: Since Enrique managed the squad, Spain have managed to progress a lot in the past few tournaments. Spain had almost made it to the final of Euro 2020/21 after losing on penalties against Italy in the semi-finals. They almost accomplished winning a trophy in the UEFA Nations League as they reached the final, only to lose 2-1 against France. With their recent form in tournaments, it looks like Spain could have the chance to become 2-time World Cup winners with their impressive squad and the leadership of Luis Enrique.
Their Number 7:There are lots of players to look out for in this Spanish squad as the forwards present a lot of danger with the likes of Barcelona wingers Ferran Torres and Ansu Fati. Even players such as Marco Asensio pose a threat to the opposition. However, Alvaro Morata is the player to look out for with him being in the top 10 goal scorers for the Spanish national team as he will look to be on the scoresheet in Qatar. Morata has experienced a few recent tournaments for Spain but hasn’t always started them due to better players in form, but he now has the chance prove why Spain should win the most prized possession in Football and to be a contender for the golden boot.
