Belgium’s up and coming to Morocco’s star boy

The recent performances of Burnley’s new signing Anass Zaroury have caused quite an uproar in the Belgium camp. The winger has taken the Championship by storm, playing a massive part in taking the Clarets to top of the league before the World Cup break. During the course of the season Zaroury has chipped in with four goals and two assists in 13 games this season.

At international level Burnley’s Starman was playing for the Belgium under 21s national team, with talk of him going to the World Cup as one of The Red Devils’ players heating up to reward his current form, only to be let down by the countries manager Roberto Martinez.

Zaroury who is of Moroccan decent, following the decision made by Belgium, the Moroccan national team invited the 22-year-old to the World Cup in Qatar due to Amine Harit dropping out the squad after getting injured less than just a week before the North African side kick off their World Cup run against last World Cup runners up Croatia.

"I am very happy and honoured to be able to defend the colours of Morocco in the world's best competition," Zaroury recently wrote on social media following his call up

"I want to thank my relatives, my family and the Moroccan supporters for their immense support, not forgetting the coach for his confidence and giving me the opportunity to realise a child's dream!"

Making his Moroccan debut in a 3-0 win against Georgia, replacing Chelsea’s Hakim Ziyech in the 69th minute, the winger will be hoping to make an impact during the tournament this winter wanting to cause an upset taking the Morocco to the next level.

How far will the North African side go this, Winter?
